The Nightingale
By Hans Christian Andersen
I grew up with his tales. I loved their melancholy, the induction they offered to enter a world both real and surreal at the same time. The Nightingale has always been my very favourite tale. It speaks of freedom, of love, of the power of choice when it stems from deep inside our hearts.
The Chinese emperor was one of my most cherished puppets. The whole performance originated and orbited around his journey!
It all starts in the far East: with sounds, traditions, colours, movement, props.
The traditional ritual of tea, a battle of tai chi, a gong and singing bowls
