The Ugly Duckling
By Hans Christian Andersen
In my old book of tales, the Ugly Duckling tale begins as follows:
“Once upon a time, in a big big lake in Africa…”
So that`s where we have to go. To that lake in Africa. With the Ugly Duckling being -the only performer without a mask- unique amongst all the other colours. Under persecution because of its diversity.
With masks and interactive puppets, inspired by the totems and the tribal rituals.
It was the first performance investigating the the two-dimensional, animated being. Its shape and its movement.
